Medieval City State, Nepal

A very challenging example of spotting differences in images is offered by this photo of Baktapur in Nepal. Baktapur is one of three Royal Cities in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, and had some of the best presrved medieval Buddhist architecture anywhere – until the earthquake of 2015 flattened streets and streets of traditional houses. Even those which were not destroyed were often damaged beyond repair, and had to be pulled down. Fortunately most of the temples survived, but there is so much rubble in the streets that it will take years for the city to recover. Visitors are still welcome, and have to pay a town entry fee, which goes towards protecting the temples. There is no charge for playing our spot the differences game, but please spare a thought for the people of this devastated historic city.
