Disparity in the Birth Rate

The birth rate among native European people has slipped on average to between 1.4 and 1.9 children per woman.
People living in Europe who come from other continents and cultures are making up for this low figure (which is fewer than the number of children needed for a couple to replace themselves) by having more than 2 children on average; the photograph, taken in Switzerland, is a visual reminder of this disparity.
