Basel Rathaus

Basel Town Hall

If you like a challenge, you may enjoy this latest addition to our picture observation game! The photo is so ‘busy’ with windows and doors, patterned roof tiles and flags, that you will need all your wits about you.
The extremely red Basel ‘Rathaus’, as it is called in German, was built 500 years ago on Marktplatz, and is now the seat of government of the Canton of Basel-City, Switzerland. The building is open to the public, free of charge, on Mondays to Fridays; you can go into the inner courtyard, as well as viewing some richly decorated staircases. On Saturday afternoons, when the parliament is not sitting and offices are closed, there are guided tours at 15.30 and 16.30.
