Savoy Hotel

The Savoy Hotel, Zurich

In the centre of Zurich’s banking and shopping district stands the grand edifice of the Savoy Hotel. No relation to the famous hotel of the same name in London, Zurich’s Savoy Baur en Ville is nevertheless traditionally luxurious, with elegant public spaces and stylishly furnished bedrooms.
The hotel was founded in 1838 by Johannes Baur, but his daughter sold it in 1918, and today it is owned by the bank, Credit Suisse. Franz Liszt stayed here when he performed in Zurich, although since it was renovated inside in 2007, he might now only recognise it from its grand exterior.
