Swiss Aerobatic Team Flying in Formation

A photograph taken from an unusual angle, which shows the grace and beauty of the six Northrop F-5E Tiger II jets as they fly in formation out of Mollis in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland. The red and white Tiger Design by Hansjörg Oberholzer looks great against the blue sky, with the crags of the Glarner Alps in the lower background. Back in 1994 Herr Oberholzer won a competition to design a livery for the Patrouille Suisse team’s planes; since then he has become more or less the official artist for the Swiss Air Force. The aerobatics team was formed in 1959 with four planes; a fifth was added in 1970 and the sixth eight years later. Now Patrouille Suisse is one of the most respected aerobatic teams in Europe.
