Ducks Out of Water

Ducks, also known as ‘waterfowl’, are aquatic birds related to geese and swans but generally smaller. Usually the female duck is less colourful than its mate, which means they are better camouflaged when sitting on the nest. “Feeding the ducks” is traditionally a popular pastime with small children, although a diet of stale bread is not very good for these relatively tame birds.
This photograph of ducks perching on a log was taken by the Rotsee near Lucerne in Switzerland.
